We have a friend in the village who has one of the prettiest gardens I have ever seen. Filled with box and privet hedges, roses, stone walls, an old well and a chestnut tree, the garden is a perfect example of the romantic garden, always green and beautiful in every season. The house is a traditional Charentaise village house, built of local limestone of course and has the distinction of being the only house I have ever seen with a tunnel of old flowering vines leading from near the entrance gates almost to the front door.
I think it is probably too low to walk through these days as the vine has grown and thickened over the decades but it is very inviting and I thought it would make a nice contribution to this week’s Thursday Doors (thanks as always to Norm for hosting this excellent challenge) …….
