Busily preparing and framing photos for a photography exhibition, I re-found a set of photos I thought were lost when my computer crashed a couple of months ago. With the first day of Autumn arriving officially tomorrow with the September solstice I thought it might be a good moment to post this reminder of the iris and rich colour of early summer here in France, presented in a slightly autumnal manner …….

Hi Janet! Yes it’s been a bit of a nightmare losing things especially e-mail adresses and contacts but I’m retrieving things bit by bit!

Thank you Sarah, it is wonderfully rich isn’t it – I have an amazing velvet this colour in my shop at the moment, definitely destined for some cushions chez moi!

How wonderful the feeling of discovering something thought lost! And lucky us, thanks for sharing Jane, I love the iris, they are spectacular in a vase and also to photograph, its the colour I think. As you celebrate Autumn we are celebrating Spring when the irises are just coming out down south. Lovely photographs 🙂

I like the effect of flowers with a background like that. Or are they lying down?

HI Badfish! Actually they’re lying down on a battered old wooden trunk! Glad you like them!

Firstly, the photos are splendid, Jane, but secondly, it’s a perfect depiction of the color that comes to mind when I think of your little spot of the world. The heathery, lavender colors of purple and all their complimenting hues. A touch of early summer. Yes, a lovely reminder to look back fondly.
Happy Autumn to you!
