Blackberry Tuesday and the Colour Purple

Anyone looking at my recent blogposts would imagine I had a serious obsession with medieval churches and fruit. I’m going to add to this impression with my post for tonight and I make no excuses, it’s a busy time for fruit on the Hillside.  Most of the apple trees in the orchard are ready for picking and when I’m not out photographing churches,  we’re pressing the fruit into litres of juice for our morning smoothies, trying to figure out how to create the perfect winter cider and mending the leaks in the roof again but that’s another story.

On my lunchtime walk with Freddie the Labrador yesterday I also realised how many wonderful blackberries we’re missing out on. I hastily stuffed a few into the doggie treat bag to add to the smoothie mix.  (This will explain why some of my photographic subjects today are inadvertently covered in breadcrumbs.)  Apart from their amazing form, it’s the stunning colour of these scrumptious marvels that sends me reaching for my camera. They really are almost black, but there also wonderful hints of purple, red and even blue thrown in for good measure.

As I ended up photographing them from every conceivable angle, I thought the results might make a juicy contribution to this week’s WordPress Photo Challenge………….

Welcome – I so love your eye and sense of color and composition. I say “go with the flow” – If life gives you fruit – make art! If it’s good enough for Cezanne and Jane Morely it’s good enough for me!

      2. HaHa! I agree, you have to take what’s there and make something from it! I do think the colours of many fruit make them a gift for an artist or even a little ol’ photographer like me! 😉 Cheers again Douglas!
