Here and there amidst the silver bare winter’s landscape are vibrant reminders that the pulse of life continues through even the darkest days and the longest nights. The berries in the hedgerows and the hips of the roses are rich and blood red with the promise of Spring……..

Thankyou so much west 🙂 I always meant this series to be a triptych with some colour in the last panel but only just managed to take the last photos 🙂 🐻

I adore your photos, Jane. They have a quiet, almost meditative quality about them. These rose hips are no exception. Lovely.

My word they’re red……
Fab as well…particularly the uppards/downwards shot of the vase…That I love!
On t’others, how did you get the subtle spotlit effect I wonder?

Thankyou sh, glad you like ’em, the vase was an experiment but I like it’s wabisabiness 🙂 I just invented a word 🙂 Spotlit bit is combo of my favourite sidelit spot, natural light, a boost on lights, darkly with the darks and tiny vignette dash (don’t like too much of that sort of thing normally but just heightened the mood here I thought) 🙂

Ah, Jane, to see such stark contrast of color amid the muted tones of a winter skeleton. You have a way of teasing out the essence of life in all your photos. They truly come “alive.”
I hope you are well(ish). My thoughts are with you.
