A while ago on one of our walks, Freddie the Labrador and I collected some splendid acorns and oak leaves. I fully intended to snap a few pics while they were still fresh and colourful but haven’t somehow got round to doing it. Today I was going to throw them all away as they’ve dried and curled and look a little ancient and dusty but I decided after a very short deliberation that they might be even more interesting in this state considering their associations with great age and antiquity. Having taken their portraits and marvelled at the way the acorns seem to be wearing little bobble hats when viewed close up, I couldn’t quite decide if I liked them best in sepia style monochrome or with their faded colours. In the end I included a selection of both…………
PS I apologise for the misleading title, I seem to have forgotten to include a mighty oak.
Wise choice – all are beautiful to look at, Jane, as your photographs always are.

Know what you mean, I think I probably like the mono look for the leaves as they look like sculpture or wood carvings to me 🙂

I agree. It’s impossible to choose. But I must say, I’m glad you allowed them to dry and curl. Lovely.

Merci Mélanie! C’est vrai je n’ai jamais vu autant! C’est dommage qu’on ne les utilisent pas, c’est du vrai gaspillage!
