Sunset Colours and Autumn Vines

Every day of September here on the hillside, has been warm, balmy and beautiful; the evenings noticeably cooler as the Autumn approaches but full of astonishing light and colours. I decided the other evening to take a walk down the hill towards the poplar wood where the sheep live, passing en route the tiny vineyard which nestles into the shelter and protection of the steep slope to produce a private harvest for one of the local farmers to magic into an annual supply of golden pineau or cognac.  The rigours of the inclement summer have left their traces on the rows of vines; many of the grapes are perfect and unblemished but there are equal numbers which are mottled and damaged, the leaves pockmarked and rusty in places.  The evening sun on this particular evening was playing wonderful tricks with the colours of the leaves and the fruit, creating luminous greens and pink-tinged yellows depending on the angle of the light……………………………………..

    1. Thankyou west517! 🙂 The light was really very strange but very beautiful! The turquoise colour on the leaves is real and comes from the Bordelaise mixture they put on the grapes to protect from malady! Thought I’d better get some photos before the harvest !

  3. Annoyingly good……I must have taken upwards of fifty viney shots while passing through Rioja and didn’t get a keeper, (admittedly it was mid-day and glaring but nevertheless 😦 )
These make we want to rip my kitten heels off and have a trample.
    Lovely!

    1. You are most kind sh 😉 I think the kitten heels would definitely have to go if you were treading these little fellows – they’re ‘uni-blanc’ apparently and very small, but perfectly formed of course…. you could probably hit them individually with a stiletto heel but a bit time consuming o_O

It has to be au naturel.
